Several months before the new Little Mermaid movie came out, I saw a Tiktok video of little black girls blind reactions to the trailer. My eyes welled with tears as I watched their joy and surprise seeing someone like them playing the part of Ariel.
It sparked my creativity and my desire to create art for ALL- to represent those who have been judged by their skin or who they love, etc. I believe that every human is special and deserves representation in the masses.
This is one of my favorite creations. Not only does the Little Mermaid movie hold a special place inside me (it originally came out when I was 12 and my inner child LOVED IT), but I love the texture and materials used to created this one-of-a-kind art.
I love 3D art that pops, like the coral and the mermaid in this piece. I used real sand, shells, crystal chips and more on this 30x40x2 inch cradled canvas. Hope you love her as much as I do!
